SIGNS OF LIFE

This project is an exploration of the last frontier left to humanity – the virtual frontier. Technology and the digitization of our lives have drastically changed the way we view ourselves and the world around us. We live in states of hyperreality, where the lines between real and virtual continuously blur and redefine our concepts of truth, reality, and self. How does this influx of hyperreality influence our bodies and minds?

Signs of Life functions in two ways. First, it maps the digital unknown, places that exist between mind and matter. Second, it mirrors our real and digital selves, reflecting our avatars and the way we communicate.

As humans move between reality and virtual life, so too do the formal elements of this project move between 2D and the 3D. Bright, dreamlike colors and expressive typography merge with a visual language inspired by scientific charts and diagrams. Formally, the work distills small, simple moments to reveal larger questions about how we function in a post-fact, hyperreal society.
